The American Quarter Horse Association faces a lawsuit over its ban on cloned horses. Experts say if the plaintiffs are successful the changes would benefit the wealthy and hurt the Association's ability to make its own rules.

Texas A&M's Dr. Ron Gill says allowing cloned horses would benefit those who can afford to clone.

"And when you have a replicant of a genetic code it's not gonna be possible to tell parentage."

Steve Stevens is on the Houston rodeo board and he's a past president of the AQHA.

"The real issue here is whether or not a not-for-profit association has the right to make its own rules."

Stevens says this is an issue that should concern all associations.

The trial began Tuesday and is expected to last two weeks.
