Researchers at Harvard say they've confirmed stress can lead to heart attacks. They say it causes plaque buildup on the walls of arteries and can lead to blood clots.
"People that exercise regularly can handle stress a little bit better and those people that kind of have more of that happy go lucky attitude."
Dr. Higgins says common sense is the answer. Eat right; exercise; don't smoke and don't drink too much and you'll be able to handle stress.
"So, making sure that you're having a healthy lifestyle; you're exercising; your diet is good; you're avoiding those things that we know are bad for you like smoking, being sedentary and drinking too much alcohol."
Researchers say they tested both humans and mice -- simulating stress for the rodents.
