Could you surf the internet, make a call to Mom, or send a text – using only your brain? Some experts are saying it could happen in the next six years.
They say you could have an electronic brain implant and be able to control those devices without a keyboard - and do it by 2020. Is that even possible? Jim Barry with the Consumer Electronics Association won't rule it out.
“It's not out of the realm of possibility,” Barry says. “There's a widespread use of these kind of sensors in a lot of folks. Within the next six or seven years? That's seems like a bit of a stretch.”
There are still some important questions to deal with.
“The privacy issues, the ethical issues,” he explains. They change as the technology changes and we're going to have to continue to address them in the coming years.”
But, the idea is not science fiction.
