California Protesters Block Illegal Immigrants From Entering

Illegal immigrants that crossed into Texas were moved out to California because Texas simply didn’t have room in detention centers in the state. But the transfer didn’t go smoothly.

Residents of Murrieta, California blocked the bus from going a center in that city.

"We can't start taking care of others if we can't take care of our own," one protester said.

This all went down after a call to action from Murrieta Mayor Alan Long, who asked citizens to fight this move by putting pressure on their locally elected officials.

"We want to make sure everyone is doing what they say they're going to do," Long explained.

The bus took the group of illegal immigrants to a different center in San Diego County.

JoAnn Fleming of Grassroots America told KTRH she understands why Californians feel this way.

“It’s just like in your own home. There are certain people you welcome into your home. But you want to have a few rules,” Fleming said.

So if the state of Texas can’t handle the flow of illegal immigrants, and Californians don’t want them, where should they wind up going?

“To the White House lawn,” Fleming said.
