Hidalgo Lifts Mandatory Evacuation Orders

On Monday, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo officially listed the mandatory evacuation order that had been in effect for residents in areas affected by flooding over the last week.

Governor Greg Abbott will address the statewide flooding situation in a news conference this afternoon.

  • The San Jacinto crested on Saturday but isn't expected to fall below the flood level until Thursday in the Sheldon area.
  • The West Fork of the San Jacinto River in the Humble area should be below the flood level by Wednesday.
  • The Trinity River crested Sunday. But it won't crest until Tuesday afternoon in the Moss Bluff area.
  • The number of water rescues did go down yester, but there were hundreds across the area over the last week.
  • One Channelview neighborhood saw 20 people and 20 pets rescued by authorities.
  • The rains caused a tree to fall and hit a house in Harris County, striking a gas line and starting s fire. No one was injured.
  • A five year old boy is the only known death related to the floods in Texas. That boy was sept away by waters over the weekend.
  • Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has sent rescue resources to the state in an effort to help the cleanup.
