Social Security is a Massive Political Problem

Democrats love to paint Republicans as enemies of Social Security, but even Biden's Treasury Secretary admits they have no plans to save the program. Janet Yellen told Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) that Biden simply had "principles." She said working with Congress was one of those principles.

Cassidy rightly pointed out that after 3 years in office, Biden should have a plan for something as critical as Social Security, but all Biden seems to do is point fingers at the Republicans. Unfortunately, despite the clear urgency of the issue, we haven't seen any substantial proposals for how we can fix this problem, and there's a reason for that.

Political Consultant Vlad Davidiuk says politicians are hesitant to propose Social Security changes because "Senior citizens tend to vote in much higher proportions, much higher percentages, and they are particularly sensitive to any discussions of change, or any implementation of new policy."

This leads to the issue of Social Security becoming a political hot potato that gets passed back and forth, but nothing ever really seems to get done about it. Davidiuk says that Social Security as it currently stands isn't sustainable long term, and eventually, someone will have to do something.
