Social Media Can't Censor Conservatives in Texas

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has signed social media regulations into law.

Abbott says House Bill 20 will protect the First Amendment because social media websites are the "modern-day public square" and he doesn't want conservative voices silenced.

The law makes it illegal for platforms like Twitter and Facebook to ban users due to their political viewpoints.

It also requires the sites to explain their moderation policies and put together a complaint and appeals process.

Florida passed a similar measure that was blocked by a judge in June.
