Astros in first place ahead of home opener on Thursday

The Astros are returning home from their first road trip of the season in sole possession of first place in the AL West and a 5-1 record.

Carlos Correa hit a tiebreaking, two-run homer in the ninth inning yesterday as Houston split a short series against the Los Angeles Angels with a 4-2 victory.

Kyle Tucker and Aledmys Díaz hit back-to-back homers in the second inning while Angels fans provided continual booing in an ongoing response to the Astros sign-stealing scandal in the 2017 and 2018 seasons. No trash cans were thrown onto the Angel Stadium field as seen in the series opener, however.

Houston is off today before their home opener Thursday night against the A's. Hear the game on both KTRH and SportsTalk 790.
