Another week, and yet another story of conservative censorship. The latest? Amazon!
The mega giant recently took down a documentary on Judge Clarence Thomas just in time for Black History Month. And now, they are pulling books, including 6 from Dr. Seuss.
Cancel-Culture of conservatives has become a sport in our country, with Amazon joining big tech companies Facebook and Twitter. Charles Blain of Urban Reform told KTRH, "silencing, blacklisting, or whatever you want to call it, we've been seeing this progression and you would think that books would be the last barrier." Unfortunately, that does not appear to be the case. "I think they want to create a world in which the only thing people consume, whether it's media or books or anything else, is what they agree with" Blain says.
Another thing that Amazon didn't agree with was a book written by Ryan Anderson on the transgender controversy, so they decided to discontinue making it available. "Amazon released a statement saying they have the right because it's their platform" Blain says, but what it really amounts to is modern day book burning.
So where do we go from here? Blain says simply that conservatives can't quit. "It's a little scary, but I have some optimism here because there is talk now of new apps and new web services to be able to host some of the websites that have been shutdown. So we're seeing pushback."
Will it be enough? And is it too late?
