Texas Could Regulate Coal Ash in 2021

Texas may soon receive the authority to regulate the disposal of ash from coal-fired power plants. The change would protect coal companies from stricter rules likely to be imposed by a Biden administration. The Environmental Protection Agency introduced a proposal this month to allow Texas to regulate coal ash instead of the federal agency. The EPA earlier this year reformed the Obama administration's rule on coal ash pollution as part of President Trump's environmental agenda.
