It's a good time to sell, but a bad time to buy a used car

Now's a better time to sell your car or truck than to buy a used one. Dealers don't have much inventory because of the pandemic, so they're desperate for yours.

KTRH car pro Jerry Reynolds says he's never seen demand like this for used cars.

"There's a shortage of used cars that started with of a shortage of new cars because of Covid."

But how do you know what your car or truck is worth?

"For me the best way is to get on Auto Trader and look at comparable cars to yours and see what people are asking."

Reynolds says strike while the iron is hot; new cars will begin to show up on lots in the next 60 days.

"That's bad news if you're in the market for a used car; so I'm telling people if you're thinking about trading in the next 60 days look at it now. But I'm also telling people who want to buy a used car wait about 60 days until prices fall back down."

Reynolds says in some cases, used cars are selling for thousands more than what you'd have gotten before the pandemic.
