Losing City Council Candidate Says Runoff Contender Is Ineligible

A third-place City Council candidate is trying to have one of the runoff contenders declared ineligible because of a felony conviction in her past.

Renee Jefferson didn't make it into the runoff in the race for City Council District B.

She filed an injunction on Thursday to have Cynthia Bailey disqualified because she was convicted of forging a check in 2007 and sentenced to ten years.

Bailey reportedly lied about the conviction when she applied to be a candidate.

She and Tarsha Jackson face each other in next month's runoff.
