Right now it’s still called ‘Invest 92L. And, the spaghetti models have shifted to the east, but all eyes are on the Gulf of Mexico as something tropical could be forming within the next few days.
The good news is it hasn’t formed yet, and the models have shifted from Monday, when many were pointing at a Texas landfall. This morning that has shifted towards Louisiana. But Stacy Stewart at the National Hurricane Center told KTRH you shouldn’t take your eyes off the forecast.
“They can just as easily shift back to the west as they did yesterday,” Stewart explained. “There’s still some uncertainty in the long range in Days 4, 5, and six.”
Francisco Sanchez with the Harris County Office of Emergency Management says they are preparing in the event this forms and comes for us.
“We are monitoring this 24/7, trying to see where the forecasts are trending, and trying to make sure that our partners are notified and the public knows what they’re doing,” Sanchez explained.
Galveston County Judge Mark Henry says they are in preparation mode as well.
“We’ve been watching it since Sunday afternoon. As we say, just make sure everybody’s prepared and has a plan,” Henry stated.
Stewart adds we may not have a clear forecast until Thursday, which would not leave a lot of time if this does come in our direction and makes landfall over the weekend.
