Gator pays a visit to Houston neighborhood

The heavy rain last night brought flooding to parts of the Houston area. It also brought some unwanted visitors.

A seven-foot alligator decided to check out Clear Lake. After residents saw the reptile in the neighborhood, police were called, and as you can see by the picture from our television partner Channel 2, the gator was dealt with.

Alligators and other animals can be displaced by rain and flood waters. Chris Stevens, known as ‘Gator Chris’ from the Texas Gator Squad, tells KTRH if you spot one, just leave it alone.

“In my experience catching thousands of alligators, none of them have ever come at me unless I got too close for their comfort and then they got defensive. If you give them 30 plus feet of space you will never have a problem with an alligator,” Stevens said.
