UK's National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), analyzed the top passwords belonging to accounts worldwide that had been breached.

The top 10 most common passwords were:

  1. 123456
  2. 123456789
  3. qwerty
  4. password
  5. 111111
  6. 12345678
  7. abc123
  8. 1234567
  9. password1
  10. 12345

"iloveyou" just missed out on the top 10, while "monkey" and "dragon" made surprise appearances in the top 20. Plenty of users also used passwords as an opportunity to employ a colorful array of swear words.

Gadget Nation author Steve Greenberg tells KTRH, "Don't be lazy when picking your password. If you're using any of these common passwords then you're just asking to be hacked. Pick passwords that use symbols, numbers and capitalize some letters too."
