(Austin, TX) -- Pro-life Republicans in the state Legislature are supporting two bills that require medical treatment for children born alive after an abortion attempt. House Bill 16 was filed Thursday, and Senate Bill 23 will be filed today. The two bills were filed in response to a bill proposed in Virginia, and a law passed in New York, that legalized abortion up to the moment of birth.
The low bill numbers indicate their priority as measures supported by House Speaker Dennis Bonnen and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, who presides over the Senate.
