HOUSTON - The mid-terms are over and Texas remained red, but will it remain that way for the foreseeable future?
"It's not one of those immediate things where Texas becomes a purple or blue state," says Jon Taylor, a political science professor at University of Saint Thomas. Taylor says new voters coming into the state could change some dynamics. "Outside the urban areas, you still got a strongly red state, but you see the people moving into the urban areas and suburban areas, it's not the same as those who moved into urban Houston or Dallas 20 years ago."
Taylor says history has shown the Lone Star State was purple before since the state voted blue and only stated voting red after Ann Richards lost to George Bush in the 1994 gubernatorial race.
