State Ag Commissioner Backs License Plate With Dixie Flag

(Austin, TX)  --  The Texas agriculture commissioner is backing a specialty license plate that includes an image of a Confederate flag.  Sid Miller is sponsoring an effort by the Sons of Confederate Veterans to raise money from the design.  It features the Texas Wigfall Flag, which the 1st Texas Regiment carried into the Battle of Antietam in 1862.

Kim Olson, Miller's opponent in the November 6th election, objected that the historical license plate has nothing to do with Texas agriculture.  Miller says the Dixie flag is one of the six flags that flew over Texas.
