HOUSTON - If you haven't gone shopping for a pick-up truck recently, then prepare for some sticker shock! According to the Detroit Free Press, the average price for a full-size truck has increased 48 percent over the past decade and nearly 20 percent in the past five years.
Jerry Reynolds, host of the Car Pro Show on KTRH, says the versatility of trucks is part of the reason for the increase, "Quality, ride quality and the room in these trucks is very different from five years ago. Trucks have so many uses and that's not true of cars and that's not of SUVs either since there is no limit to what you can load in a truck. Trucks have just gotten to be more like cars and people drive them that way."
Reynolds suggests you shop around, but most trucks have the towing capacity that someone would need to tow a trailer or a boat, but people should expect to shell out close to $48,000 for a new full-size truck.
