SAT's New Questions, Curve Lead to Drop in Scores

Your high school student's new version SAT is being graded on a curve – and it's causing lower scores the popular college entry exam.

Test expert and coach Edward Kim, whose enterprises help students nationwide, says students and parents are getting heartburn over scores that don't help build their case for choice admissions and scholarships.

The curve for the new test is producing lower scores even among students who answered more questions correctly than the last time they took it.

The test does change periodically, but so does the value of correct answers.

That explanation is no comfort to students and parents worrying about admissions and scholarship opportunities – and Kim tells Newsradio 740 KTRH that they have good reason to be upset about the sudden, surprise drop.

There's now an online petition demanding that the College Board re-score the last test. More than 5,000 people have already signed it.
