It’s taken years, but Houston gets its first ever motorcycle festival this weekend.
‘Bikes on the Bayou,’ which celebrates motorcycles, bicycles and scooters, gets underway at Eleanor Tinsley Park and runs through Sunday. This is all the work of “Outlaw” Dave Andrews from our sister station, 950 KPRC.
“It’s long overdue. The city has never had one. We are doing it as an old style street festival,” Andrews told KTRH.
The all-inclusive festival will bring together all two-wheeled enthusiasts to celebrate music, culture and their riding communities.
“One of Houston’s greatest attributes is its diverse community and we’re excited to highlight that diversity at Houston’s first motorcycle festival,” said ‘Outlaw’ Dave Andrews. “We look forward to bringing the Houston community together for an appreciation of a variety of two-wheeled transportation while jamming to great music and building an overall festival atmosphere with the beautiful city skyline as our backdrop.”
The festival is set in Eleanor Tinsley Park and along Allen Parkway to highlight Buffalo Bayou, the event’s dedicated charity. A portion of each ticket sold will go directly to the Buffalo Bayou Partnership to help preserve one of Houston's most iconic treasures after the damage the Bayou was hit with thanks to Hurricane Harvey.
