It has happened again, Houston -- but the generous soul who does it remains unknown.
The Salvation Army of Greater Houston says it has received its first two gold coins of the 2017 "Red Kettle" season.
Both coins were donated anonymously at its red kettle site outside the Walmar at 1118 Silber Road.
Gold coins are valued at about $1,000.
The donated coins are Canadian one-ounce Maple Leafs, dated 1984 and 1985.
The coins were concealed in a dollar bill and wrapped in a note reading, “A child is born, Jesus! Merry Christmas!”
The Salvation Army has received gold coins wrapped inside these notes for several years.
"For the past two years, we have received four gold coins each year," the Salvation Army said. "And 2014 was a record-breaking year, with twelve gold coins being donated.
