Tourniquet Killer Scheduled for Lethal Injection

A Houston serial killer is scheduled for execution Wednesday afternoon in Huntsville.  Anthony Shore, dubbed the "Tourniquet Killer," is scheduled for lethal injection for the alleged murders of four young girls in the 1980s and 1990s.

“He would attack his victims, often times rape them, and then strangle them with a tourniquet,” says Jason Clark, spokesman for the Texas Criminal Justice Department.

“Shore is scheduled for execution for the 1992 rape and murder of 21-year-old Maria del Carmen Estrada,” he says.  “But he was also linked to three other similar murders of young women in and around the Houston area.”

Shore lost his latest appeal just last week.

“At this point there are no appeals pending within the courts, and if there are no further appeals submitted, we will move forward with the execution,” says Clark.

Shore would become the seventh Texas inmate put to death this year.  Four more executions are scheduled in 2017, and one so far in 2018.
