San Jacinto Day Festival in La Porte

Hundreds of reenactors today will recreate the events leading to Texas winning independence at the Battle of San Jacinto on April 21, 1836.  It’s the largest battle reenactment in the state, sponsored by the San Jacinto Museum of History Association.  The day-long event will include entertainment, vendors, food, family activities, cultural exhibits and an up-close look at Texas history.  Visitors are invited to stroll through both Mexican and Texian camps for insight into the lives of soldiers and their families before the battle.

The festival begins at 10, with the reenactment of the battle, which will include cannons, horses and pyrotechnics, beginning at 3pm.
