>Part Two of the Vintage Rosery Sale in Needville

The last chance to have a piece of Marcia’s dream will be at the final rose sale at the Vintage Rosery on Saturday, May 9th, from 9am-noon. Marcia and Bob Roenigk ran the nursery that Marcia had always dreamed about until her untimely death in 2006. Marcia was a double transplant recipient who was doing quite well until a soil-born bacteria infection resulted in her passing.

Bob was overwhelmed by remaining roses, numbering in the several thousands. The Texas Rose Rustlers came to help him and participate in the largest rose rescue in their history. As time went by, they were joined by the Fort Bend Master Gardeners.

The first sale was held last Memorial Day weekend with 2200 roses sold over a two day period. Early this year volunteer workers extricated about 2000 more roses from the weeds and these will be sold on May 9th for $10 each (mystery roses for $5).

The nursery is located a couple miles south of Needville on Highway 36. No roses will be sold before 9 am. Please bring your own wagons. Every effort has been made to label the roses corrected, but we cannot give an absolute guarantee. Come buy a rose and share in Marcia’s dream.
