5 Injured in Blackhawk Crash at Texas A&M
Five people have been injured an Army Blackhawk helicopter crashed today on a field on the Texas A&M University campus during a field training exercise.

The chopper went down near the Corps of Cadets field on the school's College Station campus, about 100 miles northwest of Houston. University spokesman Lane Stephenson says a crew of four and an Army lieutenant assigned to A&M's ROTC unit were aboard the Blackhawk.

The five injured were taken to local hospitals. Stephenson says no students were among the injured.

Witnesses told the Bryan-College Station Eagle that they saw five Blackhawk helicopters taking off and landing throughout the day.

Scott Walker told the newspaper that he saw two helicopters lift off about 3 p.m. The first one took off without trouble, but Walker says the second seemed to lose control and start spinning. He told The Eagle that the helicopter suddenly dropped straight down into the ground.''
