It's number one on the magazines home buying list this year.
And Mike Levitin of the Houston Association of Realtors says people are buying them.
"Even though sales are down a little bit compared to our record year last year, we just have all the right things going on as it relates to the economy and the housing market."
Levitin says one of the reason Houston houses sell is the median price is fairly stable.
"It doesn't go real high and it doesn't go real low. I think over the last few years it's probably and average four or five percent increase."
Levitin says there are a lot of choices for the perspective home buyer.
"You get a lot of home for your dollar. You get a lot of selection in the suburbs as well as inside the loop."
The rental market is strong, too.
"Because of the subprime mortgage problem, a lot of people can't get homes. Because of that, the occupancy rates have been very strong."
That is one of the reasons Forbes put Houston at the top of the list. Other Texas cities to make the top ten are Austin, San Antonio, and Dallas.
