Talk Host Michael Berry Raises Money From Listeners to Air Movie Vetting Obama
Talk Host Michael Berry is raising money from listeners to get Dinesh D’Souza’s movie shown in more theaters. The movie, 2016: Obama’s America, premiered at a private event Berry hosted in Houston last Thursday. The movie opened to the public the following day, and came in third nationally in average per-theater revenues, outperforming a pro-Obama film by a 10 to 1 margin.
Listeners in Michael Berry’s markets are being asked to mail checks made in the name of a foundation D’Souza created to support the film. At a cost of $10,000 per market to air the film, Berry is hoping to raise at least $50,000, with other hosts around the country hopefully joining in.
Supporters are asked to mail a check in any amount to:

Berry is working with D’Souza and producer Doug Sain to create an online account that only the foundation can access. “People are hungry for a chance to take charge of changing America. They can’t wait to vote, they want to effect the vote. People who’ve seen this film have walked away saying, “Wow, everybody has to see this!’ Now we’re getting involved to make that happen.
The projected budget for a nationwide opening is $4 million. Berry’s more modest goal is to raise enough to debut the movie in his affiliate markets of Baton Rouge, San Antonio, Nashville, and Portland, Oregon.
Berry added, “Most of us on the radio, while we compete for listeners and advertisers, share the same goal: beat Obama, fix our country. I’m hoping other hosts, including those with more affiliates, will take on this cause. Folks like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Mark Levin, I think they’re gonna get behind this movie in a big way. Their reach is massive. I think if others join in, we’ll be more active participants in the vetting process the media refuses to undertake.”
E! Online noted that: “In limited release, two movies about President Barack Obama competed, albeit for completely different audiences. The Obama Effect, an inspirational drama from writer-director-star Charles S. Dutton, averaged a weak $2,920 from 25 screens, while 2016: Obama's America, a Tea Party-rallying documentary, scored $30,000 off just one screen.”
