A report from the Entertainment Software Association claims nearly half of all "gamers" are women. But many gamers find that hard to believe.
I know Michelle Price because we play World of Warcraft together. But Michelle, a former school teacher, agrees she's unusual in this respect.
"I would tell my students a little bit about myself at the beginning of the school year and when I mentioned that I like playing video games they were kind of shocked."
Price says the estimate 45% of gamers are women is a bit optimistic.
"I would say it's at least 15% below that, maybe at 30."
Price thinks the goal of the report is to encourage more women to "come out the closet" on gaming, so to speak.
"We'll call them a closet few women who really think games are cool but won't say it because they need something to yell at their boyfriends for."
The ESA did not respond to KTRH's request for comment.
