A Texas Congressman claims the Obama administration is stirring up racial tension and violence.
Tyler Republican Louie Gohmert spoke with the internet channel "Newsmaxx" and said the Obama administration is stirring up, "racial tension and violence." Gohmert is known for his anti-Obama rhetoric, but has turned up the heat recently following the national attention of the George Zimmerman trial in Florida.
University of Houston professor Gerald Horne says the Congressman's comments are disappointing, "I am curious to know where is the evidence concerning the alleged stirring up of racial tensions."

Gohmert went on to say the President has not united, but divided, "...he’s become the president of division, of envy, of jealousy. They say on the one hand that violence is up and we got to do all these things, violence isn’t up, it’s down."
Political strategist Matt Mackowiak says Gohmert has strong support in his district and little opposition, which allows him to make bolder claims.
Mackowiak says President Obama has occasionally done little to calm racial tension, "What I think that Congressman Gohmert was essentially talking about was some of the efforts around the Trayvon Martin incident. But, I think he went too far..."
