Members of the Harris County Commissioners Court are ready to vote on the current plan for the future of the iconic Astrodome. All members of the county governing body say they are ready to move forward on the issue.
“You can't just leave an iconic structure like the Astrodome just sitting out there, rusting,” says Joe Stinebaker, the communications director for Harris County Judge Ed Emmett.
He says commissioners will vote today on their last meeting before the deadline to get an item on the November ballot.
“There will probably be a fair amount of discussion,” Stinebaker says, “trying to make sure the public get the word that, if these bonds are issued, there would be a tax increase to pay off the bonds.”
