Injured captain reportedly showing improvement
He has undergone five surgeries; but the family of Captain William Dowling says he is showing signs of improvement after being critically injured in the five-alarm fire at the Southwest Inn.
Dowling lost both his legs, and there was fear that more tissue would have to be removed. The family learned that is no longer the case, and he will start receiving skin grafts on Monday.
Two of Dowling’s colleagues, Engineer operator Anthony Livesay and EMT Robert Yarbrough, were released from the hospital Friday – the same day Robert Bebee and Robert Garner were buried in private funerals.
