Task Force One has been activated
Texas Task Force One -- the elite search and rescue team based in College Station -- has been activated to assist first responders following the tornado disaster in Oklahoma. Governor Rick Perry's office says an 84-member team is being deployed immediately to help with victim extraction and medical treatment.
"We have search and rescue specialists; we have K-9's on this team. So they're very efficient at searching through rubble piles and debris fields for survivors."
Brian Blake with the Texas Task Force One says the teams consist of fire and medical personel, search dogs, and engineers to help when searching damaged buildings. Blake said the teams are typically in an area for 3-5 days but will stay as long as needed.
