Officials from all over the state gathered in Austin Tuesday to honor 10 Texas law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty during the last 12 months.
“Law enforcement officers are out every day, trying to save people’s lives and protect people, while they are out in the public or on the roadways,” says Texas Department of Public Safety Region 2 media and communications Sergeant John Sampa.
One of the 10 was from the Houston area: Corporal Jimmie Norman of the Bellaire Police Department was killed during a traffic stop last Christmas Eve.
Sergeant Sampa says Tuesday’s ceremony was held to, “memorialize these folks who paid the ultimate sacrifice.”
The ceremony was held at the DPS Memorial Wall and the agency’s headquarters.
