For the first time ever, the percentage of black voters outnumbered the percentage of white voters in a Presidential election. It sounds like good news for democrats going forward -- if blacks vote in the same percentage in 2016.
Houston democratic State Rep Garnet Coleman says black voters turn out when there's something positive for which to vote.
"I think that oughta be a message to republicans and to anyone that black people vote and they have interests."
Political insider Chris Begala says it's good news to hear black voters are turning out but it may be bad news for the GOP.
"Republicans ought to be very, very concerned because obviously they are woeful at attracting the African-American vote."
Analysts say if whites had turned out in the same percentage as in 2004, Mitt Romney would have narrowly beaten President Obama.
