Fans going to a Texans game next season at Reliant Stadium will see a new name over the northeast gate.
BHP Billiton Petroleum is now a major sponsor for the Texans and will have the northeast gate named after them. BHP Billiton CEO Mike Yeager says they will be partners with the Texans for the next few years, "we are going to be an advertiser with the Texans and we are going to do a United Way campaign with the Texans as well."
BHP Billiton Petroleum moved to Houston in 2006 with 350 employees. Now the oil company has over 2000 employees, "and we plan on adding a thousand more in the next year." says Yeager.
The sponsorship is also tied to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. BHP Billiton will be sponsoring Armed Forces Appreciation Day at next year's rodeo.
