You've probably heard the question asked: why are the bees dying? It's been asked for several years now and beekeepers say the media has way overblown the issue.
Jeff McMullan of the Fort Bend Beekeepers Association says it's mostly contained to commercial agriculture.
"The migratory beekeepers are the ones who have the problems."
McMullan says those beekeepers travel with their bees to commercial farms, where the bees pollinate a crop and then die off.
"American bees are feeding the world."
McMullan says it's hard on bees to travel to other states and they're also vulnerable to mites and other pests that attack. But he says the story is sensationalized by the media.
