Border seizure nets biggest drug haul in agency history
Game wardens in Starr County are credited with the biggest marijuana bust in the history of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Three men were arrested in a home near the border town of Salineno with over 47-hundred pounds of pot.
Officials say the street value of the drugs is nearly four-million dollars.
While their area of expertise is often seen as regulating hunting and fishing activities, a spokesperson for the agency says game wardens have the same authority to enter private property as a state trooper.
Game wardens also played a role in the apprehension of two jail escapees in northeast Texas this week; one of the suspects is reportedly affiliated with the Aryan Brotherhood prison gang.
