Your online rants can do more harm than good
If you've ever ranted in an online forum, you may have felt better immediately after. But a new study says if you do it often, it might make you even angrier.
Study author, Professor Ryan Martin at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay says getting it off your chest can be good.
"We see that they may in the short run see a decrease in anger and they may end up feeling more relaxed."
But Professor Martin says doing it often will teach you bad habits.
"People learn to express their anger that way all the time and so that becomes their 'go to' coping mechanism."
Professor Martin says there's nothing wrong with getting fired up about an issue, but venting online can do more harm than good.
