9 arrested and several hundred credit cards found
Police raided four homes on Friday and busted a large identity theft and credit card fraud ring.
Almost everyone has been affected by either credit card fraud or identity theft. Police say it is the fastest growing crime in the country. Friday's raid netted nine arrests and hundreds of either stolen or fake credit cards.
Detective Matt Cardenas says the bust was the result of a multi-agency effort that included the Fort Bend and Harris County Sheriff's Departments, HPD, the Electronic Crimes Task Force, the U.S. Secret Service, and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
"Financial crimes, particularly credit card fraud is a fast growing crime. The risk is pretty low and the benefits are pretty large."
