Dog tags honor each service member killed in Vietnam
A new memorial honors each Texan killed in the Vietnam War. A Houston exhibitor opened its display of more than 3,400 dog tags Sunday.
Eric Moquin is design director for Excalibur Exhibits.
"Every single one of these 3,417 dog tags (is) to represent each of the fallen soldiers in Vietnam from Texas."
Moquin says the idea is similar in concept to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall.
"It is taking some leads from the wall in DC, trying to bring in some reflectivity."
Moquin says they've made it easy to search for relatives and friends among the thousands of dog tags.
The exhibit is at the LBJ Presidential Library in Austin and a groundbreaking ceremony is this morning at 10am.
