Texas bill aims to stop grave robbers

You've probably heard about metal thieves stealing copper wire from buildings, including homes and churches. But now they're stealing metal from cemeteries!

Scott Cheffey at Houston's Woodlawn Funeral Home says the robbers target graves and it makes him sick.

"The bronze vase; it's a detachable product from the actual bronze memorial."

Houston State Rep Bill Callegari may have the solution. His bill targets the scrap yards and recyclers.

"It really doesn't affect the people who are stealing the wire but it does affect the companies; the recycling companies that buy it."

Callegari says they could be fined up to $10,000 per instance. He says the bill is likely to pass because there's no opposition to it.
