11-year-old's mother was notified by suspecting teachers at school
Child abuse is a serious problem in Harris County.
Police have arrested a 21-year-old man after teachers found an 11-year-old girl was seven-months pregnant. Deandre Devon Davis-Williams was arrested after police found text messages from him on the girl's cell phone.
Police say the man would sneak in the back door of the girl's house after school, while the mother was at one of her two jobs. The prolonged sexual abuse continued throughout the pregnancy.
Bob Sanborn with Children at Risk says Harris County has seen an increase in child sexual abuse over the past few years, "Texting, Facebook, and other social media have allowed older adults to begin to communicate with kids that they really shouldn't be communicating with."
Sanborn says often times children do not tell anyone about abuse out of fear of punishment. He says teaching kids about what is acceptable and not, can help end prolonged abuse.
Davis-Williams is being held by police on $50,000 bond. He is charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child.
