Conroe woman facing manslaughter charges
A woman is facing charges after police say she ran over her husband at their home in Conroe, killing him.
The accident happened shortly after 7 p.m. on Saturday, when an intoxicated 56-year-old Ruthie Cook-Scheer walked out of her home at 1208 N. San Jacinto and got into her car to leave. Her husband, 66-year-old Frank Scheer, came out of the house and started talking to her.
Police said they were discussing a credit card when Cook-Scheer backed over her husband, pinning him under the car. Conroe police arrived at the scene and removed Scheer from underneath the vehicle. Moments later, fire and emergency crews got to the house, but they were not able to revive him.
