Search to continue this morning at retention pond
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is trying to locate a missing Kayaker who was last seen Saturday, at a retention pond at West Road and Copper Haven in the Copper Lakes Subdivision.
The missing boater is identified as Ryan Smith 32 years old, 5’11 with brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing shorts and a white colored t-shirt. He's known to kayak the retention pond and fishes the pond frequently.
Witnesses called the HCSO after finding the kayak next to the shore line. Deputies from the HCSO Marine unit along with Cy-Fair Fire and Rescue searched the outer area of the pond. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), helicopter conducted an aerial search of the pond.
The Marine unit divers searched the pond Saturday until lighting conditions were too dark. The search will continue in this morning.
