Deputy claims woman was driving toward him before the shooting
A Houston family has initiated a wrongful death lawsuit against a Harris County deputy and Walmart, over the fatal shooting of a shoplifter that happened last December.
Shelly Marie Frey was killed when an off-duty deputy fired at her in her car.
The deputy claims that at the time of the shooting, he feared for his life as Frey was driving toward him after he responded to a shoplifting at Walmart.
Frey's family is also suing Walmart, where the incident occured, and the security company that hired the deputy, claiming the Harris County deputy used excessive force in the incident.
