And the Congressman isn't happy about it
An immigration activist isn’t happy with one of our elected officials, and he is using strong words to make his point.
William Gheen is the President of Americans for Legal Immigration (ALIPAC), and he doesn’t like the stance that Republicans like Humble Congressman Ted Poe have taken on the issue.
“They’re turncoats and traitors. They should be supporting the laws that have been passed instead of accommodating law breakers,” Gheen told KTRH.
Gheen also told KTRH he won’t be taking those words back.
“I’m being polite considering the thousands of Americans that are being needlessly slaughtered each year by illegal immigrants due to the non-enforcement of our border and immigration laws,” Gheen explained.
So his organization has stopped endorsing Poe and others members of the GOP. Poe told Matt Patrick on The 9-5-0 that Gheen hasn't done his homework.
“He doesn’t know what he is talking about. He obviously has not read the op-ed pieces I have written. I have always been opposed to amnesty,” Poe said.
Poe says you should consider the source.
“This individual likes to use drama. He’s a self promoter. I encourage people to Google his name and see what they come up with on the internet,” Poe explained.
And the Congressman clarified his stance on the immigration issue.
“I’ve never been an amnesty guy. I’ve never been an amnesty person,” Poe stated flatly.
But Gheen won't back down.
“It really does approach the levels of treason, turncoat and a lot of other expletives that I wouldn’t use on the air,” Gheen said.
Among the other Republicans ALIPAC has targeted include former Presidential candidate Senator John McCain and Florida Senator Marco Rubio.
