New report touts program's effectiveness in Sugar Land

The City of Sugar Land released a report showing red light cameras have reduced accidents at intersections by more than 58% between 2010 and 2012.  City spokesman Doug Adolph says the numbers speak for themselves:

"The data is what it is; it's transparent and the numbers speak for themselves.  Our police department compiled the actual data on an annual basis."

But not everyone agrees with the assessment.  Attorney paul kubosh says the numbers go against every previous study:

"I believe they doctored the report and I believe if they were truly serious they would find some outside source to contract with and have them actually do the study...  This report is the fox guarding the henhouse.  I will tell you this; that if Sugar Land has a (58%) reduction and they're attributing it to red light cameras, I believe that they're lying."

Kubosh has played a role in eliminating red light camera programs in several cities around Texas, including Houston.
