Obama Administration says border agents will be cut due to sequester

With the deadline for those automatic spending cuts staring the country in the face, President Obama and other Administration officials warn that our borders could be at risk.

The Obama Administration says border agents will have to be furloughed because of the cuts, which could lead to terror problems. They are talking about 5,000 border agents being impacted. Jeff Addicott of the Center for Terrorism Law at St. Mary's University told KTRH he's not buying what the White House is selling.

“It’s scare tactics. They are trying to do everything they can to scare people,” Addicott said.

Curtis Collier of US Border Watch told KTRH he finds it strange that the President is all of a sudden talking about border security.

“If they were serious about safety on the borders they would have done something in the first four years and not wait and left it in more disarray than it was when they took office,” Collier said.

Collier said the Obama Administration is just trying to scare people.

“This sequester is really nothing but a game being played by politicians onto a citizenry that really has no knowledge about what’s going on,” Collier explained.

Addicott says there are other things that should be cut before security at our borders.

“The Department of Education; the Department of Energy. There are other things that are worthless that need to be cut or scaled back tremendously,” Addicott explained.

Addicott says all Washington is doing is trying to get you to call and pressure your Congressman to get a deal done before tomorrow's deadline.
