Gene Wu asks fellow lawmakers to answer questions from Texas STAAR test
A Texas state lawmaker has a popular question for his colleagues - "Are you smarter than a 5th grader?"
Houston Democrat Gene Wu is submitting a list of questions from the fourth, fifth, and sixth-grade versions of the Texas STAAR test to his fellow lawmakers to demonstrate the frustration being felt by parent's, teachers, and students with the wording on the standardized exam.
Wu agrees that quantified tests are needed to determine the effectiveness of our education system, but believes the layout of the current standardized test is a poor measurement.
Wu admitted to local media that he and his staff missed several questions.
